Quick & tasty weight loss detox soup

By Githu: Nutrition Coach

↓ Jump to Recipe

This weight-loss detox soup is a quick and easy way to cleanse your body and boost your immune system. I use a variety of vegetables and herbs to create a tasty soup packed with vitamins and minerals.

Detox weight loss soup

Lately, I've been in a detox mode. Last week, I shared my authentic liver detox miso soup with you, and right now, I have just finished my bowl of this raw detox soup.

I started having frequent breakouts in my right jawline, accompanied by severe skin itching, which made me think it was time to do some detox. I eat very healthily, but I might have accumulated some toxins because I live in a big town with poor air quality.

Also, the fact that I have an auto-immune disease that could be caused or aggravated by pathogens hugely plays a role in my skin conditions.

Even though I would do amazingly great by fasting, I've chosen to eat primarily raw veggies, and since it's cold, having a warm detox soup is the way to go.

This detox soup calls for garlic, turmeric, ginger, parsley, endive, red beet, Chioggia, black radish, colored radish, fermented cabbage, apples, sage, dry oregano, black sesame, and mild mustard, among others.

Radish soup

Bitter herbs, plants, and roots are perfect for supporting the liver and helping the excretion of bile and enzymes. Eating bitter plants can;

  • Stimulate the release of digestive juices from the pancreas, duodenum, and liver.
  • Aid the liver in detoxification work and increase the flow of bile
  • Help regulate the secretion of pancreatic hormones that regulate blood sugar and insulin.
  • Help repair the gut lining.
  • Increase nutrient absorption.
  • Improve the gut microbiome.
  • They increase circulation.
  • Improve skin health.

Detox soup benefits

Detox soups will make you consume more veggies than usual. I love keeping the soups raw to preserve the enzymes and heat-sensitive nutrients like antioxidants and water-soluble vitamins.

This detox soup will offer you the following benefits;

Black radish has detoxifying properties. It has sulfur compounds that can help stimulate the production of bile by the liver, therefore facilitating the elimination of toxins from the body. Radishes also have antioxidant properties that protect the liver against oxidative damage.

Sesame seeds are high in minerals like calcium and iron. They protect the liver because they contain antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, anti-cancer, and anti-aging properties. Sesame, especially black sesame seeds, have been shown to decrease oxidative stress and can prevent osteoporosis.

Endives (witloof/Belgian chicory) are quite bitter and crunchy. They're rich in vitamins A, B9, C, and E. Endives are also rich in potassium, which is essential for the good function of the heart, nerves, kidneys, and muscles.

Apples contain malic acid that helps remove toxins by binding to them. Apples have antioxidants that protect against liver damage.

Dijon mustard is a good source of glucosinolates that protect against some types of cancer like prostate, breast, and colorectal cancers.

Apple cider vinegar (with mother) has probiotics, vitamins, and polyphenols. It regulates the body's pH and assists in the detoxifying process. The acetic acid in apple cider vinegar can kill harmful pathogens and, at the same time, enhance the growth of beneficial gut microbiome.

Garlic has sulfur compounds that are essential for supporting the liver and activating enzymes responsible for flushing out toxins. Garlic can help maintain the balance of the gut microbiome, and it supports immune function.

Turmeric has potent antioxidants that help to repair the liver cells, protect against cellular damage, and assist in detoxification. It's a powerful anti-inflammatory.

After 5 days of eating raw soup and salads, plus improving other pillars in the FOODNHEAL WELLNESS program, the pimples cleared, and I feel much better.

Whether you're looking to jump-start a new healthy lifestyle or give your body a break from a high-carb diet, this weight-loss detox soup is perfect to add to your menu.

This detox soup and salads found in this blog are great when you want to lose weight. They are also your best ally before and after holidays.

You've got the power to heal yourself, Githu.

Equipment

  • Chopping board
  • kitchen knife
  • vegetable peeler or mandolin
  • garlic press
  • Big salad bowl

Ingredients

  • 1 clove of garlic
  • ¼ red beet
  • ¼ orange beet
  • ¼ Chioggia beet
  • a small piece of black radish
  • ¼ piece of pink radish
  • 1 apple
  • a small fresh ginger root
  • a small fresh turmeric root
  • 1 witloof/Belgium endive (medium size)
  • ½ teaspoon Dijon mustard paste with seeds
  • 1 tablespoon fermented veggies eg. sauerkraut
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoon cold-pressed oil of choice
  • a pinch of sea salt
  • 2 cups hot water

Instructions

  • Clean and tap-dry the veggies, fruits, and roots.
  • Start by pressing the garlic, and put it in a salad bowl
  • Using a mandolin or a vegetable peeler, slice thinly the beets and radishes. Put these into the salad bowl with garlic.
  • Dice the apple, and chop the endive. Add them to the bowl.
  • Using a grater, grate both ginger and turmeric and then add them to the bowl.
  • Heat the water without letting it boil.
  • Chop the herbs, and place the remaining ingredients (except the fermented) in the salad bowl.
  • Pour the hot water, and use a spoon to gently mix the ingredients.
  • Cover the bowl with a lid or kitchen towel, and let the flavors infuse for about 10 mins.
  • Taste for seasoning. Serve and enjoy.
  • Pin for later and share with friends.

Notes

  • I use lots of beets and radishes to make this soup. If you are new to these ingredients, use less.
  • This detox soup can be made in advance. Store it in an air-tight container and keep it in your fridge. However, do not leave it for longer than a day, as the enzymes and vitamins will start degrading.
  • Keep in mind that this soup is an a idea, customize it by adding more veggies or substitute some.
