pouring fresh grapefruit juice with grapes & hibiscus in a glass

Say good morning to life with a glass of fresh grapefruit juice with grapes & hibiscus!

This homemade juice is easy to make with only 3 ingredients.

Fresh grapes are in season, and grapefruits are shipping in from far countries, it's the optimal time to make a good healthy glass of grapefruit juice or grape juice.

How to make grape juice

grapes, grapefruit, & hibiscus calyces

You may be wondering, "how can I make grape juice at home?"

It's much easier if you have a bender.

I picked on black grapes because they've high resveratrol than the green grapes and also for their color.

In this fresh grapefruit juice recipe, I used hibiscus water to make the grape juice.
Put some few dry calyces of hibiscus with a cup of water in a small jar, and let it infuse for some hours, at least 3h. Or, you can leave them for the night.

grapes, grapefruit supremes & hibiscus water

Filter the hibiscus water and pour it in your blender, add cleaned grapes and blend at a high speed for about 30secs.

Filter the grape-hibiscus juice.

I don't throw the grape skin residue, the skin contains much of resveratrol, just chew it even if it might be bitter at some point!

What will you get from fresh grapefruit juice with grapes & hibiscus?

This fresh juice recipe is a powerhouse of antioxidants. You'll get a good amount of vitamin C that will boost your immune system and promote your health.

Vitamin C mops up free radicals and helps reduce inflammation caused by rheumatoid arthritis. It also works in promoting your cardiovascular health.

The antioxidants, polyphenols, and flavonoids in this grape juice will one way or the other help your body in fighting off diseases if you drink it regularly.

Grapefruit health benefits

Grapefruits are a good source of vitamin C. They have a relative amount of vitamin A, pantothenic acid, copper, and potassium.

Vitamin C will help you ward off cold-flu, it also reduces free radicals damage which are responsible for inflammation in your body.

In pink and red grapefruits you'll enjoy the power of lycopene, a carotenoid phytonutrient that fights oxygen free radicals that cause cell damage.

Lycopene and Naringenin (a flavonoid) both have anti-cancer properties.

Drinking fresh grapefruit juice can help you reduce the risk of having kidney stones.

Health benefits of grapes

2 glasses & jar of grapefruit-hibiscus juice

Grapes are rich in vitamin K which is vital for blood clotting and essential for bone formation. They've vitamin C, copper, and vitamin B2.

Grapes and especially black grapes contain a high quantity of a polyphenol known as resveratrol.

In clinic studies, resveratrol has shown to be helpful in the prevention of cancer, cardiovascular disease, and neurodegenerative diseases.

It can also reduce type 2 diabetes.

Moreso, resveratrol may help improve your body mineral density. It has been studied in the prevention of osteoporosis and arthritis.

Hibiscus benefits

2 glasses of fresh grapefruit juice with grapes & hibiscus

It has been used in many traditional medicines for being rich in phytochemicals like polyphenols especially anthocyanins.

Of these phytochemicals, some are antioxidants that will promote your health.

It has been studied as anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, and in control of diabetes and obesity.

Additionally, hibiscus can also help reduce high blood pressure as well as reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

However, a large intake of hibiscus can induce some health side effects and interact with some drugs. So enjoy it now and then without going overboard.

You will find hibiscus dried calyces from African, Indian and some Chinese shops.

To conclude, you'll realize that after blending every fruit in this recipe, you'll have a lot of foam, just let the juice stand for a couple of minutes before drinking, or use a spoon to push back the foam.

This fresh grapefruit juice isn't that sweet, but, you can opt to add a spoonful of honey when blending the juice.

I leave you here with a glass full of healing properties, do enjoy it and let's keep on the fight for a pain-free life.

Have you ever made fresh grapefruit before, have you ever used hibiscus? let's talk in the comments below…
