Are you tired of drinking plain old green tea? Take your green tea to the next level with this unique blend of oregano tea. It infuses dry oregano, green tea, lemon, and ginger, giving it a refreshing twist you won't find anywhere else.

oregano green tea

Lovely, are you tired of drinking plain old green tea? Do you find it hard to enjoy the taste of this healthy beverage? Well, you're not alone. I, too, do not particularly enjoy plain green tea.

I came up with a fantastic solution! Adding herbs or spices already in my pantry to enhance the flavor of green tea. This time, I had dried oregano.

As you might have noticed in this blog, I love concocting unique recipes. Sometimes, they're not so amazing to share, but most of the time, I'm impatient to send you this recipe so that you can also enjoy the health benefits to improve your health.

This oregano green tea with lime is one of those concoctions that effortlessly turned out amazingly good.

I hardly drink plain water apart from my early morning jars of warm water. During the day, I love sipping herbal water or green tea. I love green tea for its health benefits, and I make sure to drink a cup every other day.

Packed with antioxidants from tea leaves, oregano, lime, and ginger, this tea offers many health benefits. Adding oregano and lemon gives it a refreshing twist, while ginger adds a spicy note.

Oregano tea alone has a bitter taste, and so is green tea if not brewed properly (brewing green tea is an art on its own, lol).

Lime or lemon balances the flavors in this anti-inflammatory tea, while fresh ginger adds that spicy note, making this green tea enjoyable.

Oregano health benefits

Oregano is a culinary herb popular in Mediterranean cuisine and mostly found in its dried form.

Oregano's flavor depends on the soil, climate, season, and genes of where it grew, offering you a mild to bitter taste.

Here is a list of benefits you can get by consuming oregano regularly;

  • Oregano is one of the most potent antimicrobial plants you can have in your kitchen. It's said that nothing resists oregano!
  • During Covid 19, my family and I often used oregano essential oil. Without a doubt, it protected us from the infection.
  • Oregan tea has long been used to calm respiratory system inflammation and bronchitis.
  • This herb has been studied for its antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties thanks to the presence of polyphenols and flavones like apigenin, quercetin, and
  • In Greece, Hippocrates used oregano for stomach problems, and the use has been perpetuated to date.
  • Consider using its essential oil to get the most benefits of oregano's antimicrobial properties.

Ingredients for oregano tea

To make this fantastic tea, you'll need;

  • Freshly grated ginger root
  • Dry oregano
  • Green tea (prefer leaves to tea bags)
  • Lime or lemon sliced.
  • Water (hot, not boiling)

How to make oregano green tea

To make this tea;

  1. Heat the water.
  2. Grate ginger or chop it very finely.
  3. Slice the lemon or lime.
  4. Place all the ingredients in a teapot or a mug.
  5. Pour hot water (not boiling to preserve the flavor of green tea).
  6. Leave to steep
  7. Enjoy.

Not only does this oregano tea contain antioxidants from tea leaves, oregano, lime, and ginger, but it also has micronutrient compounds (gingerol, catechins, quercetin) that support and promote gut health. Plus, oregano is one of the most potent antimicrobial plants out there, making it an excellent choice for boosting your immune system.

This oregano green tea is ideal for digestion. Drink it 30 minutes after your meal.

Turn your oregano green tea into a refreshing iced tea during the hot season. Add some ice cubes and enjoy a cool and refreshing drink that will help you beat the heat.

Keep on making healthy choices. You've got the power to heal yourself, Githu.

Equipment

  • teapot or a mug
  • a strainer

Ingredients

  • small size chopped/grated fresh ginger
  • ½ lime or lemon (sliced)
  • 1 tablespoon dry oregano
  • 1 tablespoon green tea leaves (use the amount you want)
  • 2 cups hot water (not boiling)

Instructions

  • Prepare all the ingredients.
  • Place the ingredients in a teapot or a mug.
  • Pour hot water and leave to steep.
  • Enjoy your oregano green tea.

Notes

PS: I do not sweeten this beverage. The lime's flavor reduces the bitter taste of green tea.  Do not use a lot of lemon because it will completely reduce the other flavors.
Give it a try without sweetening, then work from there.
However, I suggest using healthy alternative sweeteners like honey, stevia, agave, or maple syrup.
