Sweet & Spicy Green Peas Recipe

Ingredients

  • ½ tablespoon grounded cumin
  • ½ tablespoon grounded turmeric
  • dust of cayenne powder
  • ½ tablespoon sweet paprika
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 3 small onions or 1 big
  • 2 medium shallots
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • a small piece of fresh ginger
  • 2 tablespoon cold-pressed oil
  • 3 cups frozen green peas (1 cup/person)
  • 1 tablespoon tamari sauce (no sugar & gluten-free)
  • ½ cup vegetable broth or hot water
  • 3 tablespoon nutritional yeast

Instructions

  • Heat the spices in a dry pan on low heat, the time you dice the onions & shallots
  • Put the onions & shallots in the pan, increase the heat to medium-high and add the oil, stir and cover
  • Grate the garlic and ginger and bring them in the cooking onions, stir and cook covered till fragrant (about 5 mins)
  • Pour the frozen peas, stir and cover. Increase the heat since the peas are frozen
  • Toss, stir now and then till all the peas are thawed
  • Add the vegetable broth or boiling water
  • When the boiling takes place, add salt, tamari sauce, and taste.
  • Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook for a minute or so
  • Cut off the heat.
  • Add the nutritional yeast and fold everything together into a creamy delicious peas side dish
  • Serve with rice/ quinoa/ flatbread etc
